Within the framework of the UN Joint Programme on “Harnessing Sustainable Linkages for the SMEs in Turkey’s Textile Sector”, the first phase of the target group training programmes for workers and employers in Malatya, Adıyaman, Gaziantep and Kahramanmaraş has been completed and a second phase is on-going.
Jointly organized by ILO Office for Turkey and the Labour Inspection Board of Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MoLSS), the training was delivered to the workers on the topics of workplace cooperation and communication; women’s human rights, mobbing and sexual harassment at work; labour rights; and occupational health and safety. The subject covered in employers’ training included human resource management and workplace cooperation; employers’ obligations based on labour laws and occupational health and safety.
Booklets prepared by the ILO Office for Turkey and Labour Inspection Board on rights for women workers, working hours and wages, resting rights of workers and special working conditions for young workers in the Labour Law were distributed to the trainees.
Work is also on-going on a short movie on “Decent Work in Textile Sector” to be used in project activities to demonstrate best practices in this field and build awareness on workers’ rights. |
