Director of Social Protection Sector and Executive Director of the ILO, Mr. Assane Diop, met with the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mr. Faruk Çelik in Ankara before the 19th World Congress on Health and Safety at Work. Mr. Diop thanked the Turkish government for accepting to host this Congress and highlighted the importance of every step Turkey takes as a model to be followed by other countries in the region including the adoption of the ILO Convention No. 187. Mr. Çelik stressed that the Ministry has been working hard to bring the national laws in compliance with the EU and ILO standards. During the new term of the parliament, The Ministry plans to pass a new package of reforms dealing with the world of work including a new law on occupational health and safety.
