A Thematic Group Meeting on “Growth and Employment” was held in the ILO Office for Turkey as part of National Consultations to shape Post-2015 Development Agenda
National consultations continue at different levels to shape the United Nations (UN) global development agenda after the target date of Millennium Development Goals at end-2015. As part of national consultations for the shaping of post-2015 development agenda, a thematic group meeting on “Growth and Employment” was organized by ILO Office for Turkey on 27 November 2012.
Representatives from employers and labour unions, public institutions, non-governmental organizations, academia and relevant stakeholders took part in the meeting.
Following the opening speech by the Director of ILO Office for Turkey, Ümit Deniz Efendioğlu, Prof. Dr. Erinc Yeldan, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in Yaşar University, made a presentation on “Growth and Employment in Turkey” to provide the background for the debate. Extensive discussions were conducted under three main topics: “Inclusive Growth Policies that Create Decent Work”, “Employment Policies and Social Protection for All” and “Inclusive Growth Policies for Sustainable Development”.
Topics related to the relationship between growth and employment in Turkey and worldwide were discussed in the context of decent work in addition to proposals and ideas regarding how employment and decent work should be treated in the post-2015 development agenda
