2011 World Day for Safety and Health at Work (28 April) in Japan

Each year since 2003, ILO celebrates the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. World Day in 2011 focused on the implementation of an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) as a tool for continual improvement in the prevention of workplace incidents and accidents. Marking the day, ILO Office for Japan has created a Japanese portal page listing links to relevant information including past year events of the Day, ILO 2001 Guidelines on occupational safety and health management systems and OSHMS in Japan, thematic information on occupational safety and health as well as Japanese translation of the 2011 World Day report and other related materials. Since accidents, injuries and deaths among recovery workers and volunteers are frequently reported from affected areas of the Great East Japan Earthquake which hit Japan on 11 March 2011, the page also includes information notes on occupational safety and health during disaster recovery and reconstruction period, radiation protection as well as on mental health care in affected area.
