Brief Description of the Symposium
The annual International Labour Symposium has been discussing
important topics chosen from the agenda of the International Labour
Conference. This year, the Symposium will focus on the Agenda VII:
Employment and social policy consequences of the global economic
and financial crisis. Rapid responses to stimulate the economy,
to create jobs and to protect workers and their families are needed
under the conditions of increasing unemployment and poverty, widening
gap and continuing high business failure rate. In this Symposium,
Japanese ILO constituents and academic experts will make remarks
from each respective position based on the outcome of this agenda, "Global
Jobs Pact", and the Director-General's Report for this discussion, "Tackling
the global jobs crisis recovery through decent work policies." ILO
official who was in charge of preparing the report has been invited
as a keynote speaker.
