Italian Social Partners Initiative (ISPI)

The Italian Social Partners' Initiative Project (ISPI) was designed to provide complementary social assistance to ex-working children and their families within the framework of the BGMEA/ILO/UNICEF project. The project targeted ex-working children (below 14 years of age) withdrawn from garment industries and their adult family members, female members in particular.

The main activities of the project included:

  • Skills training for wages/self-employment of ex-working children;
  • Enterprise development and micro finance services for adult family members to enhance their family income in order to eliminate child labour;
  • Awareness training in occupational safety, health, and workers' rights for ex-working children.

The project started its activities in December 1999 and continued until August 2004.
