Building Capacity of NACO/SACS

In close collaboration with NACO, the project has reached an agreement with SACS to provide ongoing technical assistance to plan and implement workplace programs in their states. The documented experiences of setting up state-level programs including working with state industry departments, state public enterprises, and exposure to existing public and private enterprise-based programs are used to along with mentoring efforts to build capacity of SACS. Currently, the project works closely with SACS Jharkhand, Maharashtra (MDACS AVERT), Madhya Pradesh, Goa, West Bengal and Tamilnadu. The number of states is likely increase in future as part of support to NACP.

The project is supporting Workplace Coordinators in SACS of Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai, Goa and Delhi to strengthen world of work response to HIV/AIDS in the states.

The Project assisted NACO in developing guidelines for strengthening HIV/AIDS programme in the world of work - (pdf 45 kb). NACO issued these guidelines on 18 April 2006 to the State AIDS Control Societies across the country.
