Innovations and improvements in the training methodology for entrepreneurs / workers have been identified for future adoption and among them is focusing on industry-specific concerns as entry points for promoting the WISE approach and encouraging active participation on the same. Four industry-specific manuals have already been developed; garments manufacturing, food processing, wood processing and metalworking industries.
Within the context of the WISE approach, even new terrains are being explored. Adaptation of training modules to specific requirements of certain sectors or to address important national or global issues is an expertise that has been developed among project trainers. One big step taken towards this direction is the development of the module on environmental protection for small enterprises.
The module developed discusses four major approaches which enterprises could practice in line with environmental protection.
Another activity that has been undertaken which brought forth partnership, this time with trade unions, is the development of an Action Manual for Workers. Some WISE trainers collaborated with representatives of trade unions in the country to come up with a new manual. This activity was undertaken by both the WISE project and the WE-OSH project (Workers' Education Assistance in Occupational Safety and Health to Workers' Organization in selected Asian Countries) which was implemented by the Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DANIDA) through the ILO.
This is one of the latest addition to the WISE training materials. After several years of implementation, project management felt the need to come up with a detailed training package for trainers which discusses the role of WISE trainers not only in handling technical sessions but also in developing materials and in assisting and facilitating the sustainability of WISE.
