ADB CORE LABOR STANDARDS HANDBOOK

LAUNCH OF THE CORE LABOR STANDARDS HANDBOOK 13 DECEMBER 2006

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) believes that decent working conditions help reduce poverty, raise living standards, and enhance the quality of economic growth by increasing productivity.

Since 1999, the ADB has worked with the ILO on a regional technical assistance project to promote and improve labor standards. The Core Labour Standards Handbook, launched on 13 December 2006 at the ADB headquarters is a result of a joint collaboration between the ADB and the ILO. The handbook aims to inform ADB staff on ILO’s core labor standards and their application to ADB country operations.

Follow up collaboration between ADB and ILO includes training and awareness raising on the handbook for ADB staff and the ILO constituents – governments, employers and workers.
