Auckland Subregional Tripartite Forum on Decent Work in South-East Asia & the Pacific
Auckland, New Zealand 6-8 October 2003

The New Zealand Government is strongly committed to the ILO’s overarching objective of Decent Work and has taken an active role in working with the ILO to support this agenda. New Zealand has supported Decent Work reforms through its active involvement at the International Labour Conference and Governing Body.

New Zealand strongly supports the interchange of information with the ILO and within the subregion on policies and progress of Decent Work initiatives. Subregional initiatives undertaken by New Zealand include providing experts to East Timor and other countries in the Pacific to help develop their employment relations and health and safety infrastructures. Through NZAID, New Zealand has provided funding to the workshop in Fiji in 2002 concerning the ratification, implementation and reporting obligations under the Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention, 1999 (No. 182).
