Network to Develop an Indonesia Youth
Employment Action Plan
JAKARTA (ILO News): Indonesia
has continued to reaffirm its commitment to addressing the challenges
faced by young people. To mark its first anniversary, the Indonesia
Youth Employment Network (IYEN), in collaboration with the
International Labour Organization (ILO) under its Youth Employment
Project, is holding a Forum under the banner “Towards the Indonesian
Youth Employment Action Plan” on Wednesday, 19 May 2004, at Borobudur
Hotel, Jakarta.
The IYEN is part of the global
Youth Employment Network (YEN) initiated in 2000 by the UN Secretary
General Kofi Annan, the ILO Director General Juan Somavia, and the World
Bank President James Wolfenson. Ten countries were selected to take the
lead in the review and renewal of employment policies for young people.
Indonesia has volunteered to become a lead country by developing IYEN
