Sri Lanka Labour Ministry adapts E-Learning for employee training.
(Colombo,
Sri Lanka) Ministry of Labour Relations and Foreign Employment,
in collaboration with the Colombo Office of the International
Labour Organization has initiated an E-Learning program to
train labour officers, labour commissioners, and staff members.
This programme was funded by the Asian Development Bank under
their programme “Institutional development of the Ministry
of Labour Relations & Foreign Employment ”.The Ministry
staff members will now be able to do their training on line
accessed through the Ministry computer labs.
TextCENTRIC Technologies, the
company who pioneered E-Learning in Sri Lanka developed the
E-Learning solution for the Ministry. TextCENTRIC, in collaboration
with ILO and the Ministry also created the E-Courses for this
program, where users can log in to www.elearning.lk
, Sri Lanka’s first E-Learning portal and follow programs
on line.
Commenting on this program, the secretary
to Ministry of Labour Relations & Foreign Employment,
Mr Mahinda Madihahewa stated that he was indeed proud that
his Ministry became the first Public Sector institution to
adapt e-learning and believes that this system will help train
the labour ministry staff in a timely and cost effective manner
while minimizing the learning time.
Commenting on the new initiative, Claudia
Coenjaerts, Director of ILO, Sri Lanka said that they were
very happy to be associated with this initiative. A key to
making the public sector more productive lies in changing
working methods. Information and communication
technology need to be applied smartly, where the costs do
not have to be high, yet the benefits are visible at once.
What it does require is the courage to change, and commitment
from the top, both of which we found at the Ministry of Labour.
TextCENTRIC
plans to introduce E-Learning and Blended learning programs
to government and corporate offices through out the country.
Using totally E-Learning or Blended Learning, part classroom
and part e-learning could minimize the training cost for any
organization and give effective personalized training to every
employee. TextCENTRIC offers multiple products and services
to implement E-Learning or Blended Learning to any organization.
