As part of its global programme on HIV/AIDS and the world of work (ILO/AIDS), the ILO has entered into a partnership with the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) to develop HIV/AIDS workplace education and prevention programmes in 23 countries across various regions. The aim of this inter-regional programme is to counter workplace discrimination and stigma related to HIV status and to address the prevention-care continuum by providing behaviour change communication programmes and information on access to care, support and treatment.
Project objectivesThe project in China aims to contribute to the prevention of HIV/AIDS in the world of work, the development of national policy on HIV/AIDS in the world of work, education and training of Chinese workers, enhancement of workers protection and the reduction of the adverse consequences of HIV/AIDS on social, labour and economic development in China.
The development objectives of the project are: Reduced level of employment-related discrimination against persons living with HIV/AIDS, and
Reduced HIV/AIDS risk behaviours among targeted workers.Coverage
The HIV/AIDS Workplace Education Programme operates both at national level and provincial level. Three provinces, ie. Anhui, Guangdong and Yunnan,have been identified.
