Description
The pilot project field tested and adapted, in the context of Bangladesh, ILO’s Community-Based Training (CBT) methodology for employment and empowerment, integrating a gender perspective. The project operated through five Technical Training Centres (TTCs) of the Ministry of Labour and Employment and in collaboration with other partners such as NGOs and the private sector. The project stressed the identification of significant market opportunities before organizing flexible training encompassing gender sensitization, vocational skills and entrepreneurial skills, and providing post training support. It thus contributed to the creation of employment opportunities including self-employment, micro enterprise and other forms of income generating activities while lending support to government poverty alleviation policies and programmes, particularly for rural women living in poverty.
