The ILO report, “Global Employment Trends for Women, March 2008” provides an update on the situation of women in labour markets worldwide. It undertakes a comparative analysis of labour markets at global and regional levels (including East Asia, South-East Asia and the Pacific, and South Asia ). It delivers the latest data including female labour force participation, unemployment, etc., and presents a new indicator on the share of women in vulnerable employment. It also analyzes the evolution of female employment by sector over the past decade and the persistent gender gaps.

The report is under embargo until 06.00 Bangkok Time Friday 7^th March/23:00 GMT on Thursday 6th March 2008. Copies of the 30 page report (in English, French and Spanish) and a press release will be available.  Interviews can also be arranged.
