BANGKOK
(ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) will mark
International Women’s Day on Saturday March 8th with a
new report on labour market trends for women in the world of work.
The
ILO report, “Global Employment Trends for Women, March 2008”
provides an update on the situation of women in labour markets
worldwide. It undertakes a comparative analysis of labour markets at
global and regional levels (including East Asia, South-East Asia and
the Pacific, and
South Asia
). It delivers the latest data including female labour force
participation, unemployment, etc., and presents a new indicator on the
share of women in vulnerable employment. It also analyzes the
evolution of female employment by sector over the past decade and the
persistent gender gaps.
The
report is under embargo until 06.00
