BANGKOK
(ILO News) – The International Labour Office (ILO) will issue its
annual Global Employment Trends report (GET) next week, providing
a comprehensive analysis of current global employment, unemployment
and labour market trends.
The report analyses the impact on the labour markets of a wide range
of factors, ranging from population and economic growth to economic
turbulence stemming from the credit crisis in industrialized
countries, rising oil prices, and a projected slowdown in economic
growth.
Embargoed copies of the Global Employment Trends 2008 will be available
from Tuesday 22 January for publication on or after 23:00
GMT
on Wednesday 23 January 2008 (6am
Bangkok
time, Thursday 24 January).
The report (in PDF file in English, French or Spanish), press release
and associated materials will be available to the media on request and
under embargo from ILO offices and the ILO Department of
Communication (contacts below).
Global Employment Trends reports have been
produced and published annually since 2003. Special editions were
published to analyse labour market trends for youth (2004 and 2006),
women (2004 and 2007) and following events such as the Tsunami (2005)
and the earthquake in
Pakistan
(2005). Some regional reports have also been produced; for example
Global Employment Trends Supplement for Europe & Central Asia,
(2005) and African Employment Trends (2007).
