28 April:  A seminar to mark World Day for Safety and Health at Work, jointly organized with State Administration for Work Safety.

INDIA

28 April: Beginning of a training programme for enterprises/exporters in brassware industry in Moradabad to coincide with the World Day.  It will include modules on Safety and working conditions.
28 April:  PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) is organizing a working at Lucknow on “Occupational Health and Safety:  Workplace Rish Assessment and Management” with technical and financial support by ILO.
3 May:  Launch of the Hindi version of the Ship Breaking Guidelines, planned in collaboration with Directorate General of Factories Advice Services and Labour Institutes (DGFASLI) at Alang, Gujarat (which has the largest ship breaking industry in India ).

Thematic messages in various publications and newsletters of professional bodies. Distribution of posters and stickers promoting Safety Culture at Work to professional bodies, Government agencies, employers’ and trade union organizations.

6 May:  Launch of the Training Manual on the ILO Code of Practice on the Prevention of HIV/AIDS at the Workplace. Signing of the Ministerial Decree on the Prevention of HIV/AIDS at the Workplace.
7 May:  One day seminar on OSH-MS for Small Enterprises to be participated by 150 tripartite constituents.

28 April: Launch of online forum on occupational safety and health will be held on the ILO’s Japanese website (http://www.ilo.org/public/japanese/region/asro/tokyo/index.htm) to promote good practices and discuss ideas for improving safety at work. The forum will be open until 30 June.

FIJI  
28 April:  The programme will include a specially created drama about an accident at work, a keynote address by the Minister of Labour and a presentation by employers on the cost of workplace accidents. A minute of silence will be observed in memory of those who have died at work. Events will take place at the Civic Centre, Suva .  There will also be an exhibition of materials on Occupational Safety and Health and a media and advertising campaign.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA
28 April: The Ministry of Labour is organizing a half day meeting on the Occupational Safety and Health Bill, headed by the Secretary Ms. Margaret Elias.

SRI LANKA

28 April: Launch of booklet," Prevention of Industrial Safety and Health Hazards" (in Singhala; it will be available in Tamil later) put together by a team including employers representatives, trade unions and the Industrial Safety and Health Department, and printed with ILO assistance. 1,000 copies will be distributed via trade unions and employers organizations.

The launch will be accompanied by a short seminar focusing on the importance of Occupational Safety and Health and Decent Work. The new Labour Minister has been invited as guest of honor (attendance to be confirmed). A press release about workplace safety and health in Sri Lanka will also be available.

THAILAND

10-12 May:  National Safety Week of Thailand, jointly organized by the Ministry of Labour, Safety and Health at Work Promotion Association (SAWPAT) and the Office of Social Insurance.  ILO expert will give a presentation.  ILO will also have a booth at the exhibition on safety and health at work.

VIETNAM
