Photo Exhibition: "Beyond Barriers: Images of decent work for persons with disabilities in Asia and the Pacific

An exhibition of prize-winning photos on the theme of decent work for persons with disabilities will open in Bangkok this week.

The show comprises winning and short-listed pictures from the 2007 Decent Work for Persons with Disabilities photo contest. Nearly 250 pictures were entered, from 19 countries throughout Asia and the Pacific. The aim of the exhibition is to highlight the ability of persons with disabilities to work productively, support themselves and make a valuable contribution to society. 
It also seeks to focus attention on their rights, particularly their right to decent work.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work - 28th April

More than 2.2 million people a year die from work-related accidents and diseases globally, and numbers appear to be increasing. The ILO is marking World Day for Safety and Health at Work with a call to manage workplace risks better and so cut this human and economic burden. A new report has also been released, "My life, my work, my safe work: Managing risk in the work environment"

The 301st ILO's Governing Body

The 301st session of the ILO's Governing Body has opened in Geneva. On the agenda of the session (which will end on March 20th) are a wide range of issues, including the latest developments in Myanmar, basic labour rights in a number of countries, the latest report of the Committee on Freedom of Association, public-private partnerships, migrant workers and discrimination in employment and occupation.

Report on labour migration in Thailand

An ILO report, "The Contribution of Migrant Workers to Thailand: Towards Policy Development" shows how Thailand benefits from 1.8 million migrant workers in the country.

5th KILM Report Analyses Labour Productivity

The latest "Key Indicators of Labour Market" report has been published and shows rapid increases in productivity in East Asia, with lesser advances in South Asia and South East Asia and the Pacific. The report uses 20 indicators, covering type, status and levels of employment, pay, characteristics of job seekers, productivity and working poverty.
