ATTENTION BROADCASTERS!
This
ILO-IPEC project places a great emphasis on media relations to advocate
for safer migration practices, improved labour standards and workplace
monitoring to fight trafficking of children and women. These steps
can help reduce the vulnerability to human trafficking and the inevitable
consequences of labour and sexual exploitation. We also advocate
for the direct participation of children and women in campaigns
to implement more effective prevention measures.
For broadcasters:
The following professional B-roll (natsound) and packaged news/current
affairs items are available in Beta-SP (PAL format). They are available
free upon written request (national/international broadcast networks
only):
Thai
Transitions: Shot in
scenic Hill Tribe areas of northern Thailand, this video highlights
two successful project-supported programmes to provide alternative
income and skills training to vulnerable Hill Tribe people. Hundreds
of families are now offering 'home stay' experiences to tourists
from countries right around the world. The money earned stays in
the village helping to keep families together and prevent ill-prepared
migration to the cities where much of the trafficking-related exploitation
takes place. A local high school also offers young people new skills
like cooking, sewing and metal work, so that if they do migrate
they will have a skill to offer. Durations: 3'50"
and 2'28" Format: BETA SP (PAL) (B-Roll and
English narration/guide track). Scripts are here.

The
Link Between Migration and Trafficking: Shot in
China's beautiful Yunnan Province, this video highlights the direct
connection between ill-prepared migration and human trafficking.
It also documents how successful anti-trafficking prevention measures
can be when educators, governments and counter-trafficking practitioners
coordinate their efforts. Activities in several counties include
a visit to two high-schools and a women's information centre, where
children and women receive crucial advice on how to reduce their
vulnerability to traffickers and exploitative employers before,
during and after migration. Durations: 7'11"
and 2'56" Format: BETA SP (PAL) (B-Roll and
English narration/guide track). Scripts are here.
