3.    Responsibilities and activities

3.1       The major responsibilities:

            Carrying out research, exchange, dissemination and application of management theory;
 
            Providing the government departments with research reports and facilitating the enterprise reform and
            implementation of the policies, laws and regulations pertaining to enterprise management;

            Reporting the wishes and reasonable demands of the enterprise managers promptly, and protecting their
            legitimate rights and interests;
 
            Enhancing management training to improve the competence of enterprise managers;
 
            Organizing the collection, processing and diffusion of information relevant to enterprises, creating and
            developing domestic and international computer information networks;
 
            Organizing academic research projects in China and internationally, promoting exchange between Chinese
            and foreign enterprise managers, and developing cooperation with similar institutions and organizations;
 
            Publishing and distributing books and journals in the field of enterprise management;

            Summing up the advanced management experience, and recognizing outstanding enterprise managers,
            enterprises and achievements in management;

            Providing guidance to the local and sectoral sub-associations, and performing the functions of CEMA/CEDA as
            an integrated network;

            Plan, develop and implement occupational safety and health training programmemes;
 
            Assist the government in policy and standards formulation on occupational safety and health.

CEMA/CEDA

The China Enterprise Management Association / China Enterprise Directors' Association (abbreviated to CEMA/CEDA) is a nationwide society with body corporate status, registered with the Ministry of Civil Administration of the People's Republic of China. CEMA was founded in March 1979, and CEDA in March 1984.

CEMA/CEDA's membership covers entrepreneurs and directors of enterprises. As a nationwide non-governmental organization, it aims to promote the development and reform of enterprises, upgrade the level of business management, foster contacts between enterprises and governmental organs, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises and entrepreneurs.

In upholding its principle of serving enterprises and entrepreneurs in general, CEMA/CEDA seeks to provide enterprises and business management departments with training opportunities advisory and information services and technology transfers, participate in the legislative processes concerning enterprises and enterprise management, publish books and periodicals on business management and facilitate exchanges at the international level, thereby helping to achieve the ultimate target of modernizing management and production skills and establishing a socialist enterprise management system in line with Chinese conditions.

So far 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, 28 nationwide industrial sectors, 260 industrial cities, and over 80,000 large and medium-sized enterprises in our country have set up their own local enterprise management societies and entrepreneur societies as branch organizations or members of CEMA/CEDA, forming a nationwide network covering several million enterprises in China.
