| In Asian and Pacific developing economies, the wages, incentives and career prospects of skilled workers are generally not commensurate with their skills. The ILO/APSDEP has been dealing with these problems through various activities, including the promotion of skill competitions at the national, subregional and regional levels. This publication was produced after a meeting was held to familiarise participants with the modalities of organising the 1995 ASEAN skill competition - the first of its kind in south-east Asia. It includes the recommendations of the participants on the action to be taken by governments, industry/enterprises, employers, employees and training institutions, and the rules governing the conduct of a competition. | ||
