| Publication of the APSDEP Thesaurus in 1983 was the first attempt to assist in setting up efficient information centres of vocational education and training at the national level in Asia and the Pacific. The Korean government, on behalf of the ILO, prepared the 1983 APSDEP Thesaurus and revisions, as well as the current edition. The Thesaurus was developed with the structure and standard features of the ILO Thesaurus. This was done for the convenience of those member countries that were indexing and abstracting documents and information materials on vocational training using the ILO Thesaurus facet numbers. This 1993 edition deals with the broad subject areas and terms related to socio-economic development, especially those of major concern, such as labour, employment, industrial relations, social security, wage, job condition, job security, health, personnel management and vocational education and training. The descriptors are classified according to 19 subject areas recommended by the ILO. The VOCED database uses the APSDEP Thesaurus for the allocation of keywords. This indexing tool is also used in the creation of the APSDIN database which is currently incorporated in the VOCED database. | ||
