National Laws and Information

Governments, disability activists, academics and others often request information about what countries are doing to promote the rights and welfare of disabled persons. To meet these frequent requests the AbilityAP programme has organized a database of relevant laws, policies and information about the implementation of these laws and policies and compiled them in these Web pages. Primary emphasis is placed on countries within the ILO AbilityAP region.

In this section you will find many laws and policies that deal exclusively with disability issues. You also will find general labour, social security and related legal documents and policies that have disability provisions embedded within them. Both types are organized on a country-by-country basis. Whenever possible the database also includes information and reports that describe how laws and policies are implemented. Links are provided to additional information sources in each country, where they are available.

Finally, in some cases the text of the law or policy can be found directly on this Web site. More often, however, a link has been established to a government or related Web site. These linkages are more likely to ensure that the most current law or information is available.
