Activities :EmployAbility:A Resource Guide on Disability for Employers in Asia and the PacificEmployAbility: A Resource Guide on Disability for Employers in Asia and the Pacific has been finalized. The guide is designed to educate employers about the benefits and business case for hiring disabled persons and how to integrate disabled persons in to the workplace. In today’s competitive market place, no company can ignore a segment of the labour force or its customer base. EmployAbility provides resources and information help to employers who know they need to access people with disabilities as employees and customers. Initially drafted for the ILO/ESCAP Multinational Roundtable on Disability and Employment the final guide includes the following: · References to free as well as priced publications, many of which are available on the Internet · Useful Web addresses · Examples of policies from other countries and employers’ organizations, such as Marriott International, AT&T and Westpack Banking Corporation · Good practice examples from companies such as Jolibee Food Corporation, Panasonic and Nike subcontractor Chang Shin Factory · Checklist and fact sheets about hiring people with disabilities and specific disability groups as well as special issues such as accessible tourism · And, most important, contact information for government, NGO and disabled persons’ organizations in each country who are experienced in helping to match people with disabilities to jobs.
