Activities :ILO/DPIrish Aid Photographic Competition:"Decent Work for Persons with Disabilities"On the 25th October 2007, the
International Labour Organization, Disabled Peoples’ International and
Irish Aid jointly organized an Asia-Pacific photographic competition under
the theme ”Decent Work for Persons with Disabilities”

Disabled Persons on 3rd December 2007. The competition was created to

disabilities and their right to decent work. The photographs had to
include disabled people in the work environment, including those who are
self-employed, and be linked to the concept of decent work or of people
advocating for their right o decent work. The competition was open to
everyone residing in the Asia-Pacific region over 18 years old and the
first prize was USD1,000. Judging was carried out by a panel of experts
comprising leading photographers, the International Labour Organization,
governments, trade union, employer and disabled persons’
representatives. In addition to the regional
competition, country level contests were held in Cambodia and Thailand.
The winners of these contests were announced separately. The closing date for submitting
photos was on 21st November and the winners were announced at an award
ceremony held in the United Nations building in Bangkok on 3rd December
2007. The Deputy Prime Minister presented the awards to the winners. The outstanding winning photos and other photographs presented for exhibition are available on this Web site under the photo gallery. |
