- Private Sector Development Programme (IRQ/08/01/UNQ)
2009-2011 The objective of this project is to create and enable an effective, coherent and comprehensive framework for private sector development in Iraq, at both national level and in target governorates.
- Local Area Development Programme (IRQ/07/02/UNQ)
2007-2009 The objective of this project is to improve living conditions and contribute to sustainable poverty reduction in three selected areas in Iraq (Sulaymaniyah, Babyl and the southern Marshlands).
- Promoting fundamental principles and rights at work in Jordan (JOR/07/03/SPA)
2007-2010 This project focuses on strengthening labour relations, within the triparitie framework, with a view to promoting economic and social development.
- Local Socio-Development in War-Affected Areas in South Lebanon (LEB/09/01M/UND)
2009-2010 This project promotes the empowerment of local stakeholders’ through local economic development and direct livelihood support in conflict-affected areas in South Lebanon.
- Strengthening National Action to Combat the Worst Forms of Child Labour in Lebanon (LEB/08/06/ITA)
2009-2011 This project concentrates on the progressive elimination of the worst forms of child labour in Lebanon with a specific focus on the North and the Bekaa governorates
- Support to Public Employment Services in Lebanon:
Strengthening the capacity of the National Employment Authority (LEB/08/01/CAN)
2008-2011 This project contributes to raising the level of employment to reduce poverty. It focuses on institutional capacity building, labour market intermediation services, information system development and promoting self-employment opportunities.
- Skills development, employment services and local economic recovery for the construction sector in South Lebanon (LEB/07/03/ITA)
2008-2010 This project contributes to employment generation and the social and economic recovery of South Lebanon by providing employment-oriented accelerated modular skills training programmes for priority jobs in the construction sector; and by offering institutional capacity building measures and interventions to support small business development.
- Introduction of Know About Business in vocational and technical training in oPt (PAL/08/01/UND)
2009-2010 This project contributes towards the creation of employment opportunities by fostering an enterprise culture in oPt and promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment among youth. This will be achieved through introducing the ILO Know About Business (KAB) curriculum in technical/vocational education and technical universities.
- Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (PAL/09/50/UND)
2009-2011 The ILO is participating in a joint initiative with the UN country team under the Spanish Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund (MDG-F) on “Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in the Occupied Palestinian Territory”. The initiative is designed to promote Palestinian women’s social, economic and political empowerment.
- Implementing and enforcing internationally recognized labour rights in Oman and Bahrain (RAB/05/01/USA)
2006-2010 This project contributes to the development of a functioning labour inspection system and tripartite structures with independent labour and employer structures that reflect the core labour standards embodied in the 1998 declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work
- Enhancing Labour Inspection Effectiveness in the Arab States (RAB/09/50/NOR)
2009-2010 This project contributes to the long-term socio-economic development of participating countries by strengthening social dialogue and improving compliance with labour legislation, while promoting social justice and decent work, which will ultimately enhance productivity and employment.
- Entrepreneurship Education - Know About Business for Yemen(YEM/08/01/SFD)
2009-2010 The objective of this project is to contribute to the creation of employment opportunities by fostering an enterprise culture in Yemen, through promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment among youth.
