  Subject: This paper examines informal employment in the West Bank and Gaza Strip (WBGS) and argues that the best way to convey the meaning and significance of informal employment in this context is to view it as unprotected or unacknowledged work. This type of employment is no longer confined to small, unregistered enterprises with non-contractual work; instead, it now includes larger, registered enterprises with contractual employment but little or no social protection and entitlements.
