ABOUT THIS SITE
The Training and Rural Development site tries
to give an account of the training activities carried out in the rural
sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as of the programmes
and projects related to the economic and social development of rural
populations.
The role that regional rural training institutions
are called to play goes way beyond mere technical training for working
in the rural environment. It also includes, for example, the actions
concerned with rural population's effective exercise of their citizenship,
health care of rural male and female workers, and the environment, research
and technological development care to be incorporated in production
activities, among others. Rural training
institutions have, in sum, a strategic role to play in the economic
and social development of rural areas and countries in general.
Through the Training and Rural Development site, Cinterfor/ILO
intends to provide the rural training community of Latin America and
the Caribbean with a rich source of information, documentation and knowledge
on several aspects related to the activities of rural training institutions
in the region. Additionally, the Centre seeks to turn this space into
a mechanism of interaction, horizontal cooperation and exchange among
all those who, in different institutional settings, are engaged in rural
vocational training and the economic and social development of rural
communities and areas of Latin America and the Caribbean.
In this site you can find information and documentation concerning
the actions developed by rural training institutions and programmes
