Argentina
National Statistics and Census Institute

* El trabajo decente en la Argentina ("Decent work in Argentina")
INDEC edited this document in preparation for the Dialogue table on the promotion of decent work in Argentina.
Through labour market indicators, it aims to attain a rough estimate of working conditions for the Argentine population, thus finding inputs to secure a decent job for workers.
The study was conducted during May 2002.

* Employed persons are classified by status in employment, by sex and by aggregated branch of activity. 2001 census.

Bolivia

Information on the employed population is disaggregated by sex, age, occupational group, status in employment, economic activity.

Monthly average income in the main annual occupation, disaggregated by sex, occupational group, rural or urban area, status in employment, and combinations of these variables.

The relevant variable in this table refers to the number of employed persons. Information is also disaggregated according to the following variables: sex, educational level, geographic area, branch of activity, occupational category and educational level. In addition, there are cross-references between them, so we can obtain data regarding, e.g., employed persons by status in employment, branch of activity and geographic area.

* Work tables
Data concerning the number of jobs are classified according to the following variables: gender, geographical area, branch of activity, status in employment, level of education; and combinations between these variables.

* Employed persons' income tables
The following tables refer to income received from work, according to given variables and combinations between them. Variables include sex, level of education, geographical area, branch of activity, status in employment and educational level.

Mexico

Nicaragua

* Main indicators of the urban labour force
Indicators contained in the following table consist of annual data for the 2000-2002 period. Economically active population is disaggregated by activity rate. Employed persons are described according to their level of schooling and sector (formal and informal, as well as classified between men and women). Unemployed persons are also categorised by level of schooling.

Panama

Employed population is classified either as full-time workers, part-time workers, underemployed persons, non-agriculture informal workers. Each group is quantified by branch of activity and sex.

In this case, information is broken down into civil servant employees, private enterprise employees, domestic work, own-account workers, employers (owners), contributing family workers and members of producers' cooperatives.

* Under Social Information, several socio-demographic indicators are given. Employment and social security rates should be highlighted among the labour market indicators. On this topic, data cover participation in economic activity, employment rate, remunerations, labour conditions and pension systems. Information is available for different indicators such as geographical area, branch of activity, status in employment, level of education, age, number of jobs according to enterprise's size, etc.

Uruguay

* Continuous Household Survey
The following document summarizes the main indicators of the Uruguayan labour market for 2004.
Analytical categories are: Working-age population and Economically active population. Descriptions of the population at working age include level of education, disaggregated by gender and age group. Activity rate takes account of employed and unemployed persons, providing specific rates by gender and age group. On their part, employed persons are disaggregated by: status in employment, income from work, sector of activity. Many of the above variables are combined, e.g., status in employment and income.

Venezuela

* Employment and unemployment indicators are made available on-line. Employment indicators are categorised by formal and informal sectors, and by employers' sectors (public and private). Unemployment indicators are shown by age group and by gender. Starting from November 2004, bulletins report household sample surveys with the above information, which can be reached at the following address and by selecting economic indicators.
