The II Inter-American Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility:
From Words to Deeds explores the possibilities of applying the CSR
concepts.
Following the theme introduced in the I Inter-American Conference on
CSR: CSR as a Tool for Competitiveness, this second edition continues
to focus in the business case. Once the importance of the private sector
in the socio-economic development and its ability to contribute to society
through CSR has been acknowledged we should go from words to deeds.
It is necessary to analyze why companies decide to introduce CSR in
their business management. This Conference will also analyze strategic
issues as well as internal and external drivers, how to communicate
CSR inside and outside the company, the role of education to mainstream
CSR, and the raging controversy on the real motives for embracing CSR:
conviction or protection. The sessions will also touch upon the positive
social impact of CSR and the role of multilateral organizations.
The Conference is structured in four plenary sessions and three rounds
of breakout sessions with three concurrent sessions each. It is expected
to touch upon all aspects above mentioned in depth and breadth. In each
session enough time will be allotted so that participants can express
their opinion and discuss with the panelists.
