LABOUR RELATIONS AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING>> Labour law legislation and vocational training

Introduction Vocational training's progressive involvement in the world of labour and its topicality in all thematic agendas concerning labour relations necessarily implied an impact on labour legislation. In this way, there have appeared a number of initiatives in Latin America during the last few years that included provisions regarding vocational training. Ministries of Labour have developed employment and training programmes, and collective bargaining has finally taken up training as one of its typical contents.

This site displays cases of American national legislations that regulate some aspects of vocational training as linked to labour law, ranging from the advisory participation of workers in bipartite bodies of human resources management to the development of workers' right/duty to be trained within the labour relationship together with the corresponding obligations of employers. Before that, an overview of American constitutions is provided, where the law began to acknowledge the importance of vocational training. These documents were the starting point of the so called "social constitutionalism", that followed the Mexican Constitution of Querétaro in 1917. They illustrate the close relationship between labour discipline and training. - Argentina Act N° 24.465, in amendment of Labour contract regime; introduces the modality of employment promotion and learning contract.
