As a whole, the text shows, on one hand, a panorama of
the current state of the competence-based training approach, and on
the other hand, the way in which participating countries of the international
seminar titled "Training Based on Labor Competence: Current Situation
and Perspectives", carried out in May of 1996 in the city of Guanajuato,
Mexico, have adapted that approach to their particular circumstances.
The first part focuses in on the international context and establishes
a frame within which each exposition plants its own experiences and
perspectives from different countries, in relation to the recently mentioned
concept. In the second section, diverse innovations are gathered, in
terms of experiences and postures, whose common factor is the interest
of workers to take up responsibilities in their own training. The third
section is oriented toward the experiences of standardization, as well
as the identification of basic and generic abilities of the work force.
Dedicated to the topic of competence-based education, the fourth part
undertakes certain experiences and attends to the cultural characteristics
that enrich the approach and show the experimental field related with
this type of training. The last section is dedicated to the topic of
certification. It analyzes the diversity of postures in distinct experiences
of States' participation in the recognition of labor competence, and
it puts together a proposal for follow-up on certification, through
a computerized system that allows for the administration of training
efforts.
