The National Service of Training for the Construction
Industry is a decentralized public institution of the transport,
communications, housing and construction sector. It was created
by decree- law 21067 in January 7th of 1975 with statutes by
decree-law 21673, of October 26th, 1976.
In exercise of its functions, SENCICO acts
with technical, administrative and economic autonomy. Its main
functions are:
- Workers training in all occupational levels.
- Research on new alternative secure and economical construction
systems.
- The standardization through which technical standards are
proposed updated regarding construction.
SENCICO supports regional governments in its
training, specialization, retraining and certification activities
for construction workers and establishes agreements for these
purposes.
The goals of SENCICO are:
- To impart vocational training to industry workers to contribute
to the economic development.
- To provide social promotion for workers through integral
training to enable them to be useful and responsible citizens.
- To qualify and certify the levels of training achieved by
construction workers.
- To organize educational programmes to attend the different
needs of the labour market, the workers and the community
in all aspects related to construction.
- To develop plans of exchange of knowledge and transference
of technology through programmes of technical cooperation
at the national and international level.
