Between 6 and 14 March 2006 SENAI carried out the fourth edition of
the Knowledge Olympics which gathered teachers and students of SENAI
for a talent and creativity competition, with special emphasis on the
quality of Vocational Education in training for the labour market.
The 30,500 square metres of the covered area of the Convention Centre
of Pernambuco housed bureaus, laboratories and industrial kitchens where
the students selected during the State stage sat for a test in 48 occupations
of the technological areas of mechanics, food and information technology,
among others. Simultaneously, SENAI students and students who won international
tournaments carried out demonstrations in 13 industrial, commercial
and service areas.
Nearly 100 thousand visitors attended this event which, apart from
competencies, promoted parallel events such as Brazil Space of Vocational
Education. Here, partner institutions and enterprises of SENAI had the
chance to present their brands and products. In addition, there was
the 1st International Conference on Vocational Education, Culture and
Technology, a thought and development forum of Vocational Education
and Industrial Technology that covered an area of 76 thousand square
metres of the Plaza de la Ciudadanía and promoted professional
initiation and upgrading through quick training for the visiting public.
