SENAC celebrates sixty years accompanying profound
technological changes in the world

On 10 January 1946 the National Commercial Training Service (SENAC) was created. Devoted to the vocational training of workers belonging to the Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism sectors, the institution accompanied the growth of such sectors and the improvement of vocational education in the country.

Those six decades of work have led to a number of achievements, for example the foundation of the Universidad del Aire in 1947, which publicised commercial courses on the radio for almost 15 years. In 1950, the pedagogical enterprise - a school store -was begun. It gave birth to a number of innovating ventures, such as current hotels, restaurants, "lanchonetes" and school stands.

In the following decade, two further steps were taken: Vocational Training Centres across the country with an innovating pedagogical conception and the launching of the foundations of one of the most successful programmes of the institution: mobile units which almost 30 years later would become the school-trucks and the school-raft of SenacMóvel.

During the 80s and the 90s, and accompanying the deep technological changes in the world, SENAC goes for Educational and Corporate Information Technology and intensifies the production of research, books, videos and software. TV Senac (today's STV, Rede Sesc-Senac de Televisão) also begin to air in the 90s.

Already during the first decade of the new millennium, the Rede Sesc-Senac de Teleconferência, with its 400 reception posts, and the radio programme Sintonia Sesc-Senac, which is currently being distributed for free to more than 650 radio stations in the country, were created. In addition, the Rede EAD Senac was set up, with its postgraduate courses "Lato sensu" that received the highest opinion of the Ministry of Education. These are all important initiatives for the country's integration.

During these 60 years of activities, hard work, entrepreneurship, vision ahead, boldness, participation and training there has been a great deal of self-transforming ability and a capacity to transform Brazilian citizens' life. If renovation is Senac's destiny, then we are welcoming other 60 more years.
