The Technical Institute for Training and Productivity (INTECAP) was created by Decree 17 of May 19th 1972. Since its creation the Institute is responsible for the vocational training in Guatemala and the technical assistance to enterprises that require support to increase productivity.

It is a technical-educational decentralized entity, non lucrative with own patrimony and private funds, which has full capacity of acquiring rights and fulfilling duties.

MISSION
To offer to the productive sector, specialized services in the training of human resources, though professional education activities addressed to all workers and new labor force in the diverse economic activities of our country.

To achieve our Mission, we design with high quality standards: programs and in-class and distant-learning events. Our system works through Regional Divisions all over the country, Training Centers, District Delegations, and Customer Service Departments; that develop Technical Assistance and Training Programs.

The goals and functions of INTECAP are:

1. To constitute the technical specialized state agency (at the nation service, with the collaboration of the private sector) for the development of human resources and the increase of productivity. There are other agencies and state entities working in this field.

2. To collaborate with the government development plans on the fulfilling of goals related to the training of human resources.

3. To constitute a harmony vehicle between the private and public sectors by promoting a working relation and cooperation between both sectors.

4. To promote the productivity increase in all aspects and levels and to support the development of human resources. When other people or institutions offer these services, the Institute acts as consultant to maintain high levels of effectiveness and coordination.

5. To collaborate as the agency specialized in productivity increase and human resources training with entities that promote the socio economic development of the country.

6. To give opinions and offer assistance to the government and the private agencies in this field of work.
