YES JUMP Knowledge sharing and Green Jobs workshop A YES JUMP knowledge sharing and green jobs workshop was held in Mombasa, Kenya. The workshop was attended by twelve members from the National and Technical Steering committee from Zimbabwe and Kenya.
The workshop objectives were:
(i) knowledge sharing on best practices on the implementation of the Youth Green Jobs Fund
(ii) how to integrate Green Jobs in Youth Employment Policies and Climate Change as well as share results of the Green Jobs fund evaluation
(iii) discuss the YES JUMP fund sustainability measures after the end of the first phase; and to
(iv) prepare for the YES JUMP second phase.

Commission of Inquiry Report on Zimbabwe (CoI)
In support to the implementation of the International Labour Organisation’s Commission of Inquiry’s seven (7) recommendations on Zimbabwe’s case, the ILO Office in Harare conducted the following activities.

20-22 July 2011: Training for State Actors on International Labour Standards. Objectives of the workshop:
The workshop is a first in a series of activities that will be aimed at training key state actors for the full respect of human and trade union rights and to enable the elaboration and promulgation of clear lines of conduct in this regard.
25-30 July 2011: Training course on ILS and judicial independence and ethics for labour court judges, conciliators, arbitrators and lawyers.
The main objective of the course was to equip judges, conciliators, arbitrators and lawyers with the knowledge that will enable them to use international labour law sources to resolve labour disputes, and to carry out this task guided by the principles of judicial independence and ethics.
495 Jobs created of which at least 223 are green
495 youth are now self employed (jobs created) - the youth have benefited from Training for Rural Economic Empowerment in Fish Farming, Beekeeping, Horticulture and Poultry. By the end of 2011 the Skills programme aimed to have created 420 jobs of these 210 will obtain employment from TREE projects and 140 from QIA projects.

Labour Law Reform: Capacity Building Workshop
Strengthening of Social Dialogue and Tripartite Cooperation in Zimbabwe
The Labour Law Reform: Capacity Building Workshop was held at the Montclair Hotel from the
11th to the 13th of May, 2010. The workshop stemmed from the Road Map of the tripartite Labour Law
Reform Advisory Council which identified capacity building of stakeholders involved in the labour law
reform process as a key element. The workshop was aimed at bringing stakeholders and labour law
experts together to discuss and fuse areas of common interest and identify areas of difference in the
labour law harmonization and reform process. The recommendations from the workshop together with
the position papers from the tripartite partners will form the basis of further negotiations by the
tripartite Labour Law Reform Advisory Council which has the mandate to guide the law reform process.

Tripartite Negotiating Forum Technical Committee Workshop
Strengthening of Social Dialogue and Tripartite Cooperation in Zimbabwe
The Workshop was held in line with the objectives of the ILO/UNDP Project on Strengthening of
Social Dialogue and Tripartite Cooperation in Zimbabwe which is focused on the revival of the
Tripartite Negotiating Forum (TNF). The meeting was held as a follow-up to the official launch of the
Kadoma Declaration “Towards a shared national social and economic vision” by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe
on 26 February 2010.
The main objective of the workshop was to follow-up on the work of the four sub-committees established to
strengthen the TNF on the following points: Legislation of the TNF, Establishment of an independent secretariat
for the TNF, Implementation of the Kadoma Declaration and Resources mobilization for TNF activities. It was expected
to receive a feedback from the sub-committees on those subjects and to enable the TNF technical committee to come up with
positions for presentation to the main TNF.
By the end of the workshop, the participants came up with a clear road map and concrete agreed decision to be
submitted to the main TNF for final decision.

High Level Publicity Launch Of The Kadoma Declaration – “Towards A Shared National Social And Economic Vision”

The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency R.G. Mugabe, has officially launched the beginning of a publicity campaign for the Kadoma Declaration – “Towards a Shared National Social and Economic Vision” (the Declaration) on Friday 26 February, 2010.
- The Declaration was signed by the tripartite partners on 4 September, 2009 and was first discussed by the tripartite partners in the TNF in 2001 in an attempt to address macro-economic problems facing the country, including the “country risk factors” and their causes.
