Employers’ Activities

Director for ILO SRO Harare Employers’organizations represent the interests of employers and the business community in any given country. They are also an influential group that directs the business environment of most countries.

With regard to employers’, SRO-Harare is focusing its activities on the following:

  • Identifying and addressing concerns and trends in industrial relations, and social and economic fields;
  • Enhancing the capacity of enterprises to promote and increase productivity;
  • Enhancing employers visibility, thus giving them a stronger voice in national consultation and debate;
  • Creating the capacity within employers’ organizations to address gender and development issues;
  • Creating the capacity within employers’ organizations and enterprises to handle staff and industrial relations issues;
  • Sensitizing employers to the need for equal opportunity programmes and practices;
  • Providing training for small enterprises on how to improve their businesses;
  • Enhancing the capacity of employers to provide acceptable standards of occupational health and safety and a good working environment;
  • Enhancing the capacity of employers to address and combat child labour issues with the assistance of employers’ organizations;
  • Supporting and assisting employers’ initiatives to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS; and
  • Promoting the principles set out in the Global Compact, which is an initiative of the UN and the International Organization of Employers to improve corporate social responsibility.
