Mr Alphonse Tabi-Abodo (Cameroonian) has been recently confirmed as Director of the ILO Country Office in Harare.
After working for the Cameroon Ministry of Economic Affairs as Chief of Division in the Human Resources Development Policies,
Mr Tabi-Abodo joined the ILO in 1989. He joined the Organisation overseeing Technical Cooperation Programmmes in skills, youth employment,
employment policy and labour statistics in Cameroon, the DRC and Cote d’Ivoire. Between 2001 -2004 he was the ILO Chief of Regional Programming
in the then ILO Regional Office in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. He was promoted to Deputy Director of the ILO Sub-Regional Office in Harare – an office
that was covering nine southern African countries from 2005-2008. After restructuring of the ILO, he has been Officer-In-Charge of the
Country Office in Harare until his recent appointment. Mr Tabi (as his officers affectionately call him) holds a Masters Degree in Demography
and Economics from the United Nations Institute for Demography in Yaounde, Cameroon.
