Projects
The operation of ILO programmes and activities in East Africa is guided by national processes and frameworks, geared towards poverty reduction, undertaken by government, social partners, private sector and donors as well as the Decent Work Country Programmes (DWCP). The DWCP developed with the active participation of the social partners, is a programming tool in support of constituents, national policy and institutions. The DWCPs are already being implemented in Kenya, Tanzania
and Uganda.
The common priority area of the three DWCPs, the EAC Decent Work Programme (DWP) and which is also featuring on the listed project profiles is youth employment which is one of the major challenges
facing sub Saharan African countries. It is expected that the implementation of the DWCPs will contribute to
addressing the challenge. The priority areas of the DWCPs which are feature include:
Youth employment
Elimination of child labour,
Expanding & strengthening of tripartite partners
Expansion of social protection and fight against HIV/AIDS at the work place
Improved industrial relations through the promotion of rights at work and
Strengthening of cooperatives

The IPEC/ABC project aimed at supporting the United Republic of Tanzania through the Ministry of Labour and Employment on implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) for the elimination of worst forms of child labour in Tanzania.
