Business Environment

The SRO Cairo is actively working to develop an enabling environment for MSMEs. In particular, it took part in organizing a major conference on Reforming the Business Environment - from assessing problems to measuring results (Cairo, Nov. 2005), for the Committee of Donor Agencies for Small Enterprise Development. This conference gathered some 300 people, representing 29 donor agencies from field and headquarter structures, and representatives of developing country governments and the private sector, which came to Cairo to discuss ways to make the business environment more MSMEs friendly and the donors' role in this process. SRO Cairo also conducted a survey to identify major obstacles faced by small entrepreneurs regarding major obstacles facing their business environment and entrepreneurship.
