The ILO Subregional Office for Eastern Africa is mainly responsible for coordinating activities in Ethiopia and Djibouti, the office also coordinated ILO activities in twelve other countries – Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Comoros, Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
The ILO work in the subregion focuses primarily on promoting Decent Work Country Programmes; development of social dialogue; social protection; employment development; occupational safety and health; gender equality in the world of work; HIV/AIDS at the workplace; and elimination of child labour.
