With regard to employers’ activities, SRO-Addis is focusing its activities on the following areas:
- Identifying and addressing concerns and trends in labour legislation, industrial relations, and social and economic fields;
- Enhancing the capacity of enterprises to promote and increase productivity;
- Enhancing employers visibility, thus giving them a stronger voice in national and sub-regional consultation and debate;
- Creating the capacity within employers’ organizations to address gender and development issues;
- Creating the capacity within employers’ organizations and enterprises to handle staff and industrial relations issues;
- Sensitizing employers to the need for equal opportunity programmes and practices;
- Providing training for small enterprises on how to improve their businesses;
- Enhancing the capacity of employers to provide acceptable standards of occupational health and safety and a good working environment;
- Enhancing the capacity of employers to address and combat child labour with the assistance of employers’ organizations;
- Supporting and assisting employers’ initiatives to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS; and
- Promoting the principles set out in the Global Compact, which is an initiative of the UN and the International Organization of Employers to improve corporate social responsibility.
