THE LIBREVILLE APPEAL (Excerpt)

The participants at the consultation of Libreville:
-Bearing in mind the ILO convention 138 on the minimum age of employment and the convention 182 on the worst forms of child labour, the UN convention on the right of the child and the OAU African charter on the rights and the welfare of the child;
-Nothing the need to urgently adopt a specific international instrument on child trafficking in all its forms and implications;

Hereby launch an appeal for :

The elaboration and adoption at international level of an instrument relating to child trafficking in all its forms;
the adoption by government, in short term, both at nationaland regional level of the common platform on the fight against child trafficking in all its forms;
The involvment of social and development partners, of economic regional organisation and of the media to attain these objectives.
