Dates and time
» Ethiopia follows the Julien calendar, consisting of twelve months of thirty days and a thirteenth month of five days (six in a leap year).
» GMT +3hours. Counting starts at 6:00a.m. Western 7:00a.m. is 1:00a.m. Ethiopian time.

Visa and immigration requirement
»  Visas are required for all visitors to Ethiopia.
» If you have Ethiopian Embassy or Consulate in your country, it is advised that you process your entry visa there.
» If the above is not possible, you could acquire entry visa upon arrival - Please make sure that

» Your passport is valid for six months,
» You bring 2 passport size photos,
» You bring your vaccination card,
» You bring your invitation letter,
» Cost for visas arriving from
- African countries is USD20
- non-African countries is USD40.

Upon departure you will be required to pay airport tax USD20.

Currency
» The local currency is the Ethiopian Birr.

- Denominations - 1, 5, 10, 50, 100.
- Five coins - 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 cents.
» Credit cards are not accepted at most hotels, with the exception of Sheraton Addis and Hilton Addis Ababa, or at any restaurant, shop, or other local facility. Foreigners are required to pay in hard currency.

Language
»  Amharic is the official language of Ethiopia, although English is widely spoken.

Accommodation
» Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, you will be informed details of your accommodation.

Transport arrangement
» Transport will be arranged to pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel. The transport service will also include trips from hotels to the meeting venue.

Weather
» December is a dry season in Ethiopia; it gets hot during the day but could get cold and windy during the evenings.

Electricity
· Ethiopia uses 220volts.
