Projects
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC)
ILO/AIDS and the OPEC Fund for International Development have started a project to implement HIV/AIDS workplace policies and programmes in selected countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
The objective is to strengthen the awareness, technical capacity and institutional capabilities of the government and the workplace partners to support workplace action aiming at preventing the spread of HIV and reducing the impact of AIDS on social and economic development.
The project will help the ILO's tripartite constituents, and associated civil society organizations, to carry out comprehensive workplace policies and programmes for prevention, care (including treatment where feasible) and the protection of rights.
Specifically the project will:
|
| | | provide training and advisory services on workplace initiatives to government and social partners;
| | | facilitate the inclusion and scaling-up of workplace policies and programmes in national AIDS plans;
| | | enable policy-makers and planners, as well as enterprise managers, adjust to changing AIDS-related employment and labour market circumstances, including management of human resources in key economic sectors; and
| | | share good practices in workplace policies and initiatives, and develop ways to replicate and scale up effective interventions.
|
Countries selected:
- Sub-Saharan Africa: Guinea-Conakry, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe
- Latin America and the Caribbean: Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru and Suriname
