International Labour Conference 2009
In working towards the adoption of a new international labour instrument on HIV/AIDS, the International Labour Conference is now holding the first discussion on the form and content of the instrument. Discussion is based on two reports, the second of which presents draft Conclusions for delegates to consider and amend. The Office will then issue a draft text for further consultation.

UNAIDS says that new labour standard on HIV/AIDS will aid progress towards universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support
Addressing the International Labour Conference on Thursday 4 June 2009, Paul De Lay, UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director, welcomed the proposed instrument which will strengthen national AIDS programmes and provide an important tool against stigma and discrimination.
