Objectives: To support country efforts to extend social protection in health to the unprotected groups of the population.
Main activities: Country and regional activities within the framework of the plan of action, organization of a donor's meeting to present the Initiative to key potential partners and to identify specific areas of collaboration

Strengthening CUT's capacities to support the development of socio-economic activities in the rural sector

Objectives : To improve working and living conditions of excluded workers of the rural sector
Main activities : Basic studies conducted and training activities organized at the benefit of various Trade Union managers and staff
Main results : Two pilots projects successfully identified, formulated and implemented in close collaboration with local associations operating in the informal sector

Objectives : To support the Government in its efforts to apply a territorial planning policy in its efforts to promote employment and alleviate social exclusion
Main activities : Formulation of governmental policies, strategies and action plans aiming at balancing regional and local socio-economic development
Main results : Territorial planning policy document produced, corresponding legislative framework elaborated, social protection needs assessed through cooperative national survey

Main activities : Formulation of policies, strategies and action plans aiming at the extension of social protection
Main results : Basic social protection studies conducted, strategy document designed and validated in a national workshop, various extension projects identified and formulated

Promotion of productive employment and fight against social exclusion
|
Main donor : United Nations development Programme (UNDP)
Objectives : To develop active public and private partnership for the implementation of a national programme aiming at the promotion of productive employment and extension of social protection
Main activities : Formulation of governmental policies, strategies, projects and pilot activities related to employment promotion and social protection extension
Main results : National programme adopted by the Government, various policy documents designed, experiences of active partnerships conducted pilot micro health insurance schemes organized

Improving the quality of sexual and reproductive health care
|
Main donor : United Nations Foundation (UNF)
Objectives : To improve quality and access to reproductive health care through empowerment of excluded groups and new forms of collaboration between providers and user groups
Main activities : Sensitization activities, promotion of collaborations between user groups and health providers using a systemic approach that accounts for both demand and supply, promotion of health micro-insurance schemes to facilitate access to health services
Main results : National partner organizations identified, training activities conducted, pilot projects identified

Extending the coverage of social security to the poor and the excluded
|
Main donor : The Netherlands
Objectives : To support the country in strengthening efficiency and increasing equity and in the development of a national action plan for extending social security coverage through social dialogue
Main activities : Direct technical support in capacity building on social security for main stakeholders, diagnosis on social security provisions, implementation of social dialogue and elaboration of a national action plan
Main results : First phase of social dialogue process, diagnosis and training on social security
