Strengthening social security through research and technical cooperation - Central and Eastern Europe
|
Objectives : To contribute to pension reform and to develop new approaches to combat increasing social exclusion and poverty
Main activities : Research projects and dissemination of research findings, training seminars for workers and employers, international consultancies and training attachments to strengthen scheme management
Main results : Series of case studies on social security issues prepared, various high-level seminars and technical workshops organized in concerned countries.

Reconstruction and extension of social protection - Kosovo
|
Objectives : To provide policy makers with analytical studies and pilot proposals which will provide the basis for the development of a national social protection strategy
Main activities : Studies, surveys and training activities conducted with the assistance of technical departments, and through partnerships with national and local organizations
Main results : Social security strategy designed, national partner organizations identified, feasibility studies related to the promotion of pilot health micro-insurance schemes undertaken in 5 communities.

Improving the quality of sexual and reproductive health care - Kyrghizstan
|
Objectives : To improve quality and access to reproductive health care through empowerment of excluded groups and new forms of collaboration between providers and user groups
Main activities : Sensitization activities, promotion of collaborations between user groups and health providers using a systemic approach that accounts for both demand and supply, promotion of health micro-insurance schemes to facilitate access to health services
Main results : National partner organizations identified, preparation of first training activities.

Promotion of pilot health micro-insurance schemes - Kosovo
|
Objectives : To contribute to the development of a national strategy aiming the extension of social protection through the implementation of concrete pilot projects
Main activities : Development of active partnerships with local support organizations, consulting services related to the setting up of pilot health micro-insurance schemes, awareness raising and advocacy activities among policy makers, social partners, NGO's and the development community
Main results : First action plan under preparation.
