GIMI brings together a network of actors - micro-insurance practitioners, experts, researchers, supporting institutions, government actors, insurance providers, social partners, development agencies, donors, and others - for the advancement of micro-insurance in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
GIMI provides resources and services to support practitioners in the design, implementation and management of micro-insurance schemes. These include:
- Online library with guides, case studies, articles and presentations;
- Bilingual French-English glossary;
- Database on micro-insurance schemes around the world;
- Free management & monitoring software;
- Training packages to be used in online or face to face sessions, as well as self-learning kits;
- Online assistance from experts in the field.
GIMI fosters exchange and interaction between actors using collaborative tools such as:
- The e-Gimi discussion forum;
- Collaborative websites called “wikis” to explore technical issues or conduct joint projects;
- The collaborative newsletter based on contributions from users.
GIMI collects experiences and innovations from the field, producing new knowledge on micro-insurance.
